Put very simply, Reiki (Rei meaning Universal Energy, Ki meaning Life Force Energy/Chi/Prana) is a very simple method of stress reduction and relaxation that heals on several levels: the Physical, Emotional and Spiritual.
It is the Higher Spiritual Consciousness of “Rei” that guides the life energy called “Ki”. When this
energy is channelled by the Practitioner to the client, it guides itself to the areas in need of healing.
When our energy is high, we are less prone to feel the effects of stress – stress being the number 1
cause of illness and dis-ease (sic) in the body. By balancing the energy with Reiki, the body can start
to heal.
Reiki healing was developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui and has footprints in history
in multiple cultures across civilizations. It confirms to recent developments in Quantum Physics
where it is proved that all beings and everything we see, feel , think – is energy. It uses the ancient
Chinese and Indian concept of Chakra’s (energy points) within the body. The Reiki Practitioner will
balance the Chakra’s and then further treat any areas as required.
Reiki complements traditional medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical institutions.
It is a non religious form of healing, and is practiced while the client is fully clothed – with limited
“hands on” physical contact.
Reiki’s gentle energy is easily adapted to most medical conditions and may be used safely by people
of all ages, including the newborn, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, the frail and the elderly, in
any situation.
